Leading the third generation in the family business of offering insurance protection, Bill Mills is senior vice president of SIA Group. He joined the firm in 2003 after earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW). During his stay at UNCW, Bill was a scholarship athlete and lettered four years with the men’s soccer team. He is positioned to grow the company and lead it into the 21st century.
Bill is an Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and a Personal Lines Coverage Specialist (PLCS). He has completed the Appalachian State University Insurance Executive Program. Bill is a member of the Seahawk Club Board of Directors and sits on the Liberty Mutual Regional Agency Advisory Council. He has previously sat on the Safeco Southeast Region council, the Fire Safety Advisory Board for the City of Jacksonville, the Onslow County Fire/Rescue Commission and has served on the board of directors for the Jacksonville-Onslow Economic Development Committee of 100.
He is an avid hunter and fisherman. Bill resides in Jacksonville with his wife, Julie and their three sons.
In her position, Tommie Ann consults with member agencies to assist them in increasing productivity, meeting client needs, and growing client and carrier relationships. She also collaborates with insurance company representatives in order to bring the best opportunities and compensation to SIA of NC network partners.
With more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Tommie Ann started her career selling insurance for State Farm before being hired as a retention specialist for a large independent agency. She quickly moved up the ladder and became Personal Lines Manager for a $15,000,000 book of business. In 1998, Tommie Ann relocated to North Carolina and worked as a marketing manager in Charlotte for a national insurance company. She joined SIA of NC in 2002 as a Territory Manager.
A native of Louisiana, Tommie Ann was born in New Orleans, raised in Alexandria and graduated from Louisiana Tech, Magna Cum Laude. She then moved to the Upstate Area of New York where she lived for 28 years. She now resides in Cornelius, N.C. with her three dogs. She has four wonderful grandchildren and her favorite place to be is working in one of her many flower gardens.
Travis Collier, Agency Advisor, will be focused on helping SIA of NC establish partnerships with new and existing Independent Agencies in North Carolina. Travis is responsible for helping Agents increase the value of their Agencies and realize higher incomes through their strategic partnerships.
Travis has been in the insurance industry for more than 5 years. Travis started his career as a producer in a Small Family Agency before accepting a role as a Producer with a large broker. From there he found success as a Carrier Representative for upstart Benefits Company, helping develop their Sales Process and establishing relationships with local Agents in Eastern North Carolina.
Travis is a native of North Carolina. Born and raised in Fayetteville. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2008 with a BA in Political Science. Travis lives in Raleigh with his Wife, Leslie, and Daughter Callie. When not at work or spending time with his family, Travis enjoys being outdoors hunting, fishing, and cheering for his Wolfpack.
As the Agency Development Field Specialist, Erica will be focused on building meaningful relationships with our member agencies in NC and VA. She is responsible for aiding agencies in their processes and helping them with their productivity while promoting client and carrier relationships. She also works hard to bring the best compensation to SIA of NC network partners.
With more than 10 years of experience in the industry, Erica started her career as an underwriter before accepting a role to start a home builders program with a large regional independent agency. From there she found success as a leader within a franchise program. Along the way, Erica has earned her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) professional designations.
A native of Burlington, NC, Erica graduated from University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in English. She currently resides in Angier, NC where she stays busy with her husband and two children. Erica stays involved with several local causes, including “Drew’s Crew” which raises awareness for pediatric cancer. She is also the publicity coordinator for her local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group.
Whitney Coxe, Partner Growth Manager, is the glue that makes SIA of NC work for its members. Her job includes quoting and placing new commercial business for its members, providing service on existing business, and providing its members with administrative and marketing support to help them reach their individual goals. She has increased her specialization from personal lines to commercial lines and grown with SIA of NC since she joined the company in the spring of 2005.
Whitney helps member agents get all the benefits of a big agency while maintaining their independence. She holds her Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI), has recently earned the designation as an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and holds her Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist certification (CRIS).
Whitney is a native North Carolinian, born in Jacksonville and growing up in Swansboro. She graduated with a BS in Business Administration and Hospitality Management from East Carolina University in 2002. Whitney and her husband Matthew have two daughters. The family enjoys boating and spending time at the beach.
Jennifer Howerton, Partner Growth Advocate, provides superior customer service supporting Independent Strategic Members in the generation of new business and maintaining the current retention goals of SIA of NC. Her responsibilities include quoting and placing new personal lines business for members, providing members with quality control, and providing processing support to assist each member in achieving their individual goals.
Joining the team in November of 2014 Jennifer has her North Carolina Property and Casualty license and is currently pursuing her AINS (Associates in General Insurance) designation. Additionally, she has completed and received her AGS through Central Texas College.
Jennifer was born and raised in the small town of Logan, Ohio and is married to Trent, a U. S. Marine. She and Trent have traveled the country and have settled down in the small town of Richlands, North Carolina. Jennifer and Trent have two daughters Abagail and Kiersten that keep them very busy.
